3D map for Dom36 Creative Center
Background
In Spring 2023, I was lucky to participate in the Creative Bus project, a unique cultural exchange trip from Almaty & Bishkek to the vibrant city of Tashkent. Organized by Dom36 Creative Center (Almaty), Central Asia Design Hub (Bishkek), and 139 Documentary Center (Tashkent), with support from the US Embassy, it brought together 30 creative professionals from diverse fields. Over several days, we were engaged in the extensive program, exploring coworking spaces, creative hubs, museums, theaters, and restaurants, while forming lasting connections. It was the highlight of my year, blending inspiration, collaboration, and friendship.
After returning home, I wanted to contribute something meaningful to Dom36 Creative Center in gratitude for the trip. I noticed they lacked a visitor map showing all the venues inside their buildings. I proposed creating one. Since the buildings were old and no technical drawings existed, I measured the entire area manually with a ruler. In the process of research process, I learned a lot about the history of the surrounding area.
Outcome
After 2 months, I’ve built a complete 3D model of all the buildings. From that, I produced both printed and digital maps for visitors. The printed maps were then placed at the entrance, and digital maps were posted on Instagram. The project not only improved the experience for the visitors but also allowed me to give back to the community.
